Well, not really. However, I have accrued enough notice to get interviewed by Rhys Southan at Let The Eat Meat. Rhys is one of the most cogent, effective and fair-minded frenemies of veganism, and a hell of a good writer. His blog will force you to think hard about your veganism, and is all the more valuable for it.
At the end of the day, though, he's still wrong. :)

I think you give him far too much credit. He uses a lot of words to say very little, and he should be embarrassed by his goofy excuses for why he isn't vegan.
ReplyDeleteRational Vegan, I read a bit of Rhys's blog when it was relatively new, and back then there was some stuff that was just kind of obnoxious (like pictures of unhealthy-looking vegans taken at vegetarian festivals). I think he's gotten quite a bit better since then, though. I certainly don't agree with everything he writes; I disagree with enough that I'm not going to start eating animals. However, I do think he raises a number of valid points about vegan logic and especially vegan culture, and that people who care about animals would do well to think about these things carefully.
ReplyDeleteHi Robert! I read your great interview with Rhys and I'm an evolutionary psychologist and vegan. I'd love to get in touch with you somehow because I'm trying to arrange a panel/debate with some paleo diet people at the Northeastern evolutionary psychology society conference next year and it would be awesome to have you on board. Check out my website and please get in touch!
ReplyDeleteIt did turn out to be a good interview. Kudos to you, Humane Hominid.
ReplyDeleteI would love to refer and post links to your site but don't know who the heck you really are. No name 'Robert'? What is that. Shame or fear?
ReplyDeleteYou have been well spoken and I love your perspective. Be nice to know that there is a 'real person' behind it.
We can't support anonymous writers. A shame as you have much to contribute.
Cheers,

Well, Skip, you have an odd way of paying a bloke a compliment, but I'll thank you for it nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's neither shame nor fear, if you must know. At this stage of my life, I simply need to avoid even the appearance of conflict of interest.
